What started as a fun idea with my friends has now evolved into something truly special. It all began one lazy afternoon when my Discord friends and I stumbled upon this quirky internet challenge. The concept was simple but super intriguing: your birth month determined your character type. June babies were assassins, August ones became berserkers—pretty chaotic energy, to say the least!

We all picked our roles and laughed about what kind of over-the-top anime tropes we’d embody. But for me, it didn’t stop there. I felt this pull to bring these characters to life, so I started sketching. With every drawing, the characters became more real, and our inside jokes turned into full-on lore. Suddenly, this little challenge wasn’t just a one-off thing—it was the start of "The Chronicles."

Now, you might be wondering, how did this shift from a tongue-in-cheek name like Pervert Does Not Dream of Entering Heaven (変態を入らないで) to something as grand as The Chronicles? That’s a story in itself.

The original title came from the absurd humor of the cosplay contest we imagined for these characters—set in an anime-style school during a sports fest. Think over-the-top costumes, students in elaborate cosplay, and that one guy (you know the one) who just had to push the boundaries of decency. The ridiculousness of it all matched the vibe perfectly. But as the project grew, I realized it was becoming something bigger than just a joke.

What started as pure parody began to reflect themes of identity, friendship, and teamwork. Each drawing felt more personal, and the stories we created became richer. Suddenly, the humor didn’t feel like it fully captured the depth of what we’d built. The title needed to change—to match the heart of this project while still nodding to its playful beginnings.

That’s how The Chronicles was born. It’s still rooted in the fun, chaotic energy of that sports fest cosplay challenge, but now it represents the journey of these characters and the world we’ve created together. From lazy afternoons to epic battles, it’s been such a ride—and it’s only just getting started.
